<p>If the LXD server is part of a cluster, some of the options apply to the cluster, while others apply only to the local server, thus the cluster member.
In the <a class="reference internal" href="../../server/#server"><span class="std std-ref">Server configuration</span></a> option tables, options that apply to the cluster are marked with a <code class="docutils literal notranslate"><span class="pre">global</span></code> scope, while options that apply to the local server are marked with a <code class="docutils literal notranslate"><span class="pre">local</span></code> scope.</p>

<p>In a cluster setup, server options that apply to the local server are updated only for the server on which you are accessing the UI.
For example, if you access the UI on <code class="docutils literal notranslate"><span class="pre">server1</span></code> and update the location for storing image tarballs (<a class="configref reference internal" href="../../server/#server-miscellaneous:storage.images_volume"><code class="docutils literal notranslate"><span class="pre">storage.images_volume</span></code></a>, which has a <code class="docutils literal notranslate"><span class="pre">local</span></code> scope) from <code class="docutils literal notranslate"><span class="pre">local/pool1</span></code> to <code class="docutils literal notranslate"><span class="pre">local/pool2</span></code>, <code class="docutils literal notranslate"><span class="pre">storage.images_volume</span></code> will still be configured to <code class="docutils literal notranslate"><span class="pre">local/pool1</span></code> on <code class="docutils literal notranslate"><span class="pre">server2</span></code>.</p>
